Custom Header Finished...
#41
My RB header is tarnished down to the Y and into the pre-silencer a little, just the tops of the first bend(s) have gone completely through. Strangely some metal polish and some super fine steel wool makes the luster come back some, but it doesn't stay that way.
I ceramic coated every other thing in the bays it seems, I dunno why I didn't have the header done too.
RB makes thier stuff out of 304 too, dont they?
yea but if you coat the mild steel then the coating will absorb the heat and not the metal, isnt that the purpose? it prevents the heat from escaping by absorbing or blocking it, the heat that actually reaches the metal itself is lower temps by the time it hits raw metal past the coating.

Coatings dno't absorb the heat. it reflects it and keeps in the flow instead of heating the metal.
In my opinion it's overrated. The only thing I would use it for really is to prevent rust.

with the amount of rust on my RB header, i'd say NO! lol
the rest of my exhaust is all stainless steel, and is the same age as the header. the rest of my exhaust looks excellent, the header looks like crap now.
My racing beat header that had that chromeish coating (that seems to last on any other engine header) is totally gone from my engine's EGTs
I had a few tuning issues too where I had the header glowing, and whatever it was coated with totally fell apart and all the steel is exposed
I can't just repaint the header the paint will fall apart..
I'd almost want to send my header to El for coating.. but for the shipping cost I'll bet I can buy one of these headers..
My only issue is, how far off is YOURs from the RB's flange mount area?
Tubing is slipped inside the flange, the same as Racingbeat. If that answers your question.
Shipping is not that expensive, might be worthwhile for you to check into it.
The coatings I offer are the best money can buy, guarnateed. They are not for appearance like the rest on the market.

Cool
what I was referring to though was the header's bolt-on interaction with the rest of my exhaust...
I was curious where the downpipe ends up in comparison to a stock RB header?
Maybe I read wrong but I thought you said your's was going to bolt up to the stock N/A system after the 1st pre-cat or something.. Which is all greek to me.. I'm just curious about how far off (or if it's the same) as the downpipe flange location of a stock RB header.

How many Track sessions and dyno hours testing have you performed to optimize this design?
Is this question going to be answered?
