Turboing an n/a could easily cost more then swapping in a turbo motor. That is what I was originally going to do but... I have this disease that causes me to, ummmm, not do anything.

Not to be antagonistic, but if you can't solve a simple overheating problem (could be as simple as the t-stat), how do you plan on porting and turboing an n/a motor?

i porbably can, its just i have no idea what a water jacket is.

im not personally doing the porting myself, im gonna have dent sport grage in norwood, or jnrmotorsports.biz do it for me if my class cant help.

the turbo setup im going to be putting in with my class (at B.f.i.t. university) like next year.

lol im actually looking for more than a challenge. i read the topic about n/a to turbo and i figure its more educational value going this route.

i guess the caveat that once you buy aftermarket goods, u tend to want everything else, doesnt apply to u huh? haha.

there have been a couple people who have successfully turboed n/a's but with a standalone EMS. Bye standard practice which i learned first hand putting a turbo on a used n/a even with a standalone EMS is not a viable source of fun. I helped a buddy of mine turbo his 88 n/a with all the goodies and what not didnt last 30 minutes. My opinion now do it right or go home. Either build a turbo motor or Build a n/a plain and simple.

An N/a Can be fun I had the 88 my friend turboed before he did and it was a fun car. My Old N/A had RB Header/Presilencer/Custom catback, Cold Air Intake, FC1000 Ignition, AC/PS removed, Magnacore 10 mm wires, Light flywheel and a ACT clucth. the car vas very fun to drive and a 75 shot NO2 would have been the next upgrade but it never got it that would have made the car seriously nice

how much hp did your car make? cuz thats sick haha show the video!!!

initially, i had a problem with n/a engines. they really dont make as much power as a turbo could.

but the advantage of n/a's, theres no lag to overcome.

if im going to go n/a, which is the best type of port to get? (bridgeport?)

and your opinion on ram air vs. cold air?

thanks.

lol, in my past 7-8 years of working on my own rotaries i've probably thrown around almost 80k, if not more...seriously. That of course is for an 89t2 capable of over 550whp with a completely done exterior and a 94fd which will easily hit the 500whp mark as well. and an 88n/a that i didnt really put any money into at all and only bought for $500 so i normally dont count it lol.

dont idolize me, hell dont even be like me. its not fun once it all catches up with you. I never charged anytyhing, never even had a credit card, and still dont, but now all i do is think about the nice house or something else I could be owning right now instead of a weekender FD and a t2 that is still sitting in the garage.

honestly I've been considering selling off both for a while lol.

Anywho, you're gonna need a turbo for 300-350hp, n/a only gets to 300hp with ridiculous **** that somewhat ends its streetability.

as for a t2, getting it to 300-ish hp isnt too tough, and at 300-350hp the car is quite a sleeper. I loved my t2 when it was still in that power range. once you have a 500hp car you realize its more fun to have less power, most of the time.
