I have snapped 2 3/8 Craftsman rachets and now using a 1/2 Drive Breaker Bar still cannot get that darm center front crankshaft bolt off. I have tried the starter trick too. Starter just clicks... nothing is breaking it free.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dave

Three options.

1) Put car in gear, have someone STAND on the brakes, put 1/2 inch breaker on, and get a 4-5 foot long cheater. HANG from cheater.

2) Keep trying the starter option with full sized breaker and cheater. Maybe have someone come with a second battery, set them up for jumping, give the starter a bit more juice.

3) Impact wrench. 500 foot-pound kind. Go to town.

I've never seen a crank bolt that wouldn't crack loose with the starter trick, on any vehicle, assuming the battery is giving out enough juice.

1/2 inch gun hooked up to my 300psi bottle of nitrogen takes them out in about 2 seconds :-)
