Exclamation Catalytic Help..

What's up everybody. So,I finally de-noobed myself and it feels good.On my 1988 rx7 vert n/a,I have a small situation that's bugging the hell out of me.I recently bought a new catalytic converter online, and totally missed that there's an air tube on the side of it.Would I be able to just cut the air tubing off of the old one and cut a new hole into the side of the new one and weld that on??Would that work??I've never seen this type of cat converter and I have no idea how it's built internally.Any opinions would be very helpful!

It'd be best to see if you can exchange it for one designed for the air tube. There are "factory replacement" units for pretty cheap so long as you're not in Cali.
