well i thought my a/c wasnt cold becuase it needed "recharged". but it isnt turning on, where is the switch at for it?most things have a lil tank thing and a switch somewhere in the lines. i cant find any of that? its either the switch, or maybe their isnt enough stuff in there and its not letting the AC turn on. some help plz

if there isnt enough in there it wont turn on



there is a switch on the line going to the condensor, but that will usually just cause it stay on if it goes bad, you can try to unplug the 2 spade connectors and plug them into each other to see if it kicks it on





but yeah- if there isnt enough in there it wont come on at all, and if there isnt any in there it leaked and should be fixed before filling it again, it doesnt run out- it leaks.

so the wire that goes to the condesner, there is a switch somewhere along that?i followed it and it looks like it goes in the dash harness or something

The A/C harness will unglug from the main harness entirely, if you have the cover installed over the coolant overflow bottle it will need to be removed.



From left to right:



The spade connectors, as earlier reffered to, plug into the refridgerant pressure switch, which is located in the alum tubing between the drier cannister and the condenser. (left hand side near the coolant overflow bottle)



The A/C relay is bolted to the chassis with the other relays to the right of the drier cannister



Next would be the 6 or 8 pin plug connector that attaches the A/C system harness to the main harness



And last would be the plug that attaches to the A/C compressor.



Any number of things may have gone wrong; any of the 9-11 "o" rings (depending on which system is installed) could have worn out, the condenser could have holes in it, the compressor could be siezed, or the bearing in the clutch wheel assembly could be shot, the pressure switch could be bad, the relay could be bad, or the wiring could have a short in it. Or maybe the fuse just popped, at any rate if you want it right you might as well tear into it starting with the cheap items working your way up.
