Ok, Ibought a 1987 Rx-7 for $500..... the guy says it needs Apex seals, im not sure need some info.... its hard to start he has a switch for the fuel pump cause he said it was flooding out alot. once it starts it barely blows blue smoke (oil smoke) and it won't idle but when it does the whole car wants to rattle apart (idles rough) and it seems to rev slow and sounds like its has a miss other than that the car runs good....lol any information would be greatly appreciated

thanks, james

Apex Seals are the Rotary Engine equivlent of Piston Rings.

Perform a compression test of the engine, it will tell the truth; but from the symptoms you have described you are due for a rebuild/reman.

Unfortunatley not, and its 6 port which i hear is impossible to bridge port but i saw one person that had it done..... not sure tho i would like to port it while its all apart but i need some opinions and templates....lol also im thinkin bout using carbon apex seals since its not really gonna be street driven maybe a lil but i can deal with how crappy it will run on the street with them opinions please......

The RB catback is worth it, lol.

You do need to rebuild/replace the engine.

You can bridge port a 6port motor.

If your going with any forced induction later on (IE: turbo, super or nitrous) I don't recommend the carbon seals.

Running a 2pc Atkins or Rotary Aviation seal 2mm on a large SP or even BP 6port motor will yield good results for a cheap project car.

blue smoke on an NA huh, how many miles on the motor, and it sounds like you're definitely do up for a rebuild, like mentioned before check compression and check out everything through process of elimination, good luck
