Ah this thread just reminded me that im gonna need a new clutch soon. Ive done too many launches and the stock clutch wont hold out much more. But it had its fair share of problems to begin with i just finished it off.

I have the one people call a street / strip clutch in my FD. It is the heavy duty pressure plate and street disc. Works fine so far, similar pedal feel to the original. Don't really notice a difference. I haven't abused it yet, you won't be testing the limit very hard either with an N/A. If you are getting it all for $450, jump on it. Cost me nearly 3X's that.
yeah my boy is doing the tranny for $150 parts and labour plus some beer and weed and im like **** why dont i get a clutch while im at it since hes gonna do all the friggin labor lol. I hope i have it ready for the summer got some people bad mouthing the rx7 and the rotary engine lol

you guys have any experience with the 12lb flywheels?...it seems like a nice compimise

yeah flywheels i want something in the middle i dont need all that higher acceleration **** im kewl with the current flywheel a little lighter wouldnt be too bad so suggestions guyz will be widely gratified

My clutch was slipping on me while I was at the drag strip. I have been pampering the thing for over a week and a half, with tons noise from it. It hates me. Sucks though, I have to wait another month before I can afford the clutch. I will be getting the sprung 6 puck.



To decide wether to get a light weigh flywheel or not, you need to decide what kind of racing you will be doing. For drag racing the stock, or slightly lighter flywheel will do. You need a nice heavy flywheel for the inertia to get off the line. But If you are going to do autocross or road racing, a lighter flywheel will be better.

I wonder how well a street/strip clutch would actually hold up to drag racing/street use... assuming it was rated for more than enough torque.

IDK, well.. at least better than stock. Mine came with an Indigo flywheel.

well i assume it is better desinged to take more abuse than the stock one. I think they can pretty much assume that you will be dogging it once you get it so they have to make it for a stonger so you can get what you paid for. So no one has the act clutch?

My ACT clutch is being put in right now. Hopefully I'll be able to give you some feedback on mine in a week or so.

ok thats sounds good. Im doing this little conversion in mid april when i get my spring break from college. I think by that time you should have got some real things to tell me bout the clutch. Is it the ZX2-hdss???
