Hi,

This is probably a rotary 101 type question,as common as as they come, but cant seem to find the answer in the first 200 or so posts, So Im going to ask it right out. If it seems redundant, please forgive me.

The machine: 1990 vert, stock 120,000 very well maintained, driven mostly at ,or just barely above sea level(bay area).........with a rather heavy foot.

Problem: Recently my check engine light started to flicker on during acceleration, and only until engine was completely warmed. It only revealed its ugly little glow at the begginning of accelerating ,not thru the entire rev.range.

Now... the engine is beginning to run really rough below th 3500 rpm range, once over that it runs fine. I changed plugs and im running injector cleaner in this tank,r but so far no improvement.

any ideas?

thanks in advance.......

check the codes... thats what the check engine light is for....

its easy, you ground the 1 pin green wire by the battery, and turn the key "on" with the engine off and it will flash the code(s)

code list is in the shop manual.

Cool , I figured that might be one answer...Do you know of any listings/posts or sited i might can find the codes..Finding a local source for even a Haynes manual for this car has proven fruitless. I do want to purchase a legitimate shop manual for it as soon as i locate one(probably here somewhere i suppose) . Also ,do you know if this car is considered OBD1 or @ compliant?? I actually own a reasonably well complimented OBD1 /2 reader with a multitude of connectors( mostly American make) but has a universal (generic) OBD1 connector....Will this be of any use you suppose?

again ,thanks for your help
