What about higher gears? will it help my Q-mile then?
It helps in the higher gears a bit. If you're looking to build a car for the 1/4 mile then 9.5 lbs. may be a little too light. You may have problems launching with it. A RB light steel flywheel may be better for you if you want something lighter than stock, but still heavy enough for easy launches, etc.
So, what lbs is good for Q-miles, which one is good for 0-60? what is the 9.5# flywheels best suited for?
if you are going to use your car for mostly street driving and some drag racing...go for the light steel flywheel from RB, w/ a street/race clutch set up....

You will need the extra weight of the flywheel for the inerta during launching.

On my old, basically stock '87 t2...(just the power stuff)

-3"RB turbo back system

-Techtom modified cpu

-TIG intake

-RB light flywheel / clutch

-ported wastegate

-Greddy manual boost controller

I had ran consistant 13.9 q's....@ 101 mph.

the aluminum flywheel...is good due to the replacable ($80) face...but it is too light for everyday use.....I have burned out alot of discs using it......

Hope that helps....
