The EGR valve tends to go bad after a while. It routes exhaust gases back into the intake. If you remove it then that won't happen anymore.

If you have everything apart you should remove it. It's just for emmissions.

There is a vacuum hose or some type of other hose that connects the EGR to the intake. Do i need to plug that hose? And does anyone know where I could buy vacuum hose nozzle plugs. The Rx-7s have some of them stock on some places where there could be an option but i didn't get the option.

Easiest thing to use to plug a vacuum hose is a screw or bolt. EGR is just a reliability thing. I doubt it would gain you any noticable horsepower, and removing it will probably lower your gas mileage a tad. However if the EGR fails, you may start having strange idle and stalling problems, that is why most people remove it. I had my EGR fail on my MX-6 (actually is was the mechanic, he plugged a vacuum hose which caused the valve to be continuously open), and I would have very strange low idle, and if I wasn't careful coming to a stop my car would usually stall. Leave it, or remove it, in the end it you probably won't notice the difference.

Yes, you need to plug that hose. Check out the HELP section at Pep Boys. They sell vacuum caps.
