Ok are the 5th & 6th port actuators supposed to open even if reving the car in netural? I poped my hood and reved the engine perty high and did not see the actuators do anything. Would an exhaust leak at the manifold cause them not to open? im going to get headers really soon is there any way to make them work with the presilencer? Im also getting the apexi N1 dual out exhaust. Am I loosing alot of HP cause of the 5th & 6th ports not working.

First off, to help us all out we need to know what year the car is. Then you can get answers

Yes an exhaust leak may cause them not to open. They work off of back pressure from the cat.

Do you still have your cat?

I belive they only open under load which you would not see in neutral. I may be wrong though. One way to check is to grease the acutator rods with some sort of visible grease and then go for a drive. After your drive see if the grease has been moved around at all. That will tell you if they are opening.

or, could you disconnect the vacuum hose that actuates them, cap off the tube, then go for a drive, and see if anything's different.

would that work?

I dont see why that wouldnt work. You have to go by a more seat of the pants thing then visual evidence though. And greasing the rods is pretty simple. But either way would work.

I greased the rods, but I couldn't tell. I probably used some not-good grease.

then I tried the paper clip thing, and they were gone when I checked back under the hood. It just seemed to be running great to me, so I didn't address it further. I'll try blocking off the hose later.
