I've never swapped gears, but the differential is pretty easy to take apart.

That's coming from some one that can do an engine swap in a hour or two. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

A GOOD engine swap will take longer than that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Hmmm. So these 4.30 gears.... will they fit in the rear end of an '88 TII? Any difference between the gears for an N/A and a Turbo? I imagine pulling the diff out and opening it up and replacing the gears is a bit of a bear... Anybody here done this?

Its critical that you have it lined up properly, usually people dont do thier own gears, they have a shop that specializes in it do it for them. Clearences to check and what not. Its not a matter of just 'slapping in' a new ring and pinion, thats why there are shops that do it.

Losing teeth on a ring gear sucks period, losing a ring gear @ high speed may cause many other things to become broken which really sucks. These swaps need to be done by the pro's

The setup-up of the ring n pinion needs to be done by pros, The pumpkin installation is definately DIY!!
