Yes, you have to remove the whole rear and take it apart.

4.10 is stock on all 5 speeds except 88 convertibles and the GTUs.

The higher the ratio the better the acceleration.

sleeperRX7 07-24-2002 10:27 PM

i thought it was the lower the ratio the faster, but when i thought about it after like 5 minutes i was like im a fing moron, say you put the 4.30 ratio in a 88 5 speed n/a, its a really big difference?i know it would also depend on which model it was but i dont really know a whole lot about gear ratios, just havnt read up on them.thanks

i woke up :P

Yeah, you should notice better acceleration with 4.3.

Hmmm. So these 4.30 gears.... will they fit in the rear end of an '88 TII? Any difference between the gears for an N/A and a Turbo? I imagine pulling the diff out and opening it up and replacing the gears is a bit of a bear... Anybody here done this?

The NA gears are different. Racing Beat sells 4.375 for TII's. I've never swapped gears, but the differential is pretty easy to take apart.
