22 Inch Belt On Pully...
Hey i just saw an article from 1300 CC racing or whatever.
and they said instead of getting a dual alt pully which is underdriven and bad for street cars, you can just get a 22 inch belt and wrap it around the main pully and the Waterpump... damn i never knew that.. Think it works?
Also i want to remove the extra pullys from the main shaft.. which bolts do i remove?

it works! thats what i have on my FC, i even have a part number.
the only problem with it is that its loose, the car doesnt over heat or anything but the ****** belt squeels over 2800rpm until you get to like 5k, but on a side note its pretty kool cause ricers think your s-charged lmfao

I just did it to my car today and it doesn't squeel at all. I ended up using a 22.5" belt but it's the next width up. IT was the closest I could find to 22" but it works well. I'd recomend doing it too.
I haven't heard a squeel yet. It did, however, before I put on the second belt. I haven't or couldn't give it full throttle yet so that may have something to do with it but it feels like the right tension to me.
The problem with the "yahoo" belt is the pulley surface contact area. When you install this belt it has 50% contact area on the water pump pulley, now you end up with one belt (yahoo) having 50% contact and the Alternator belt having aprroximately 20% contact. What you end up with is disproportionate forces applied to the water pump bushings causing accelerated wear.
BTW, the pulleys I sell are stock diameter pulleys so you end up with the same drive ratios as you did with the air pump installed.

I just don't like the lack of ability to adjust the belt tension with the yahoo setup.
Regarding the uneven forces... I highly doubt you can find identical belts anyways for the dual pulley setup, theres going to be variances between the belts you buy even if you get two of the same part number, which will still result in it being uneven. Though they will be of a lower magnitude than those referred to by banzai. The fact that one of you has the belt too lose and the other just fine is probably an example of such variances.
In my opinion, most of us have removed the PS and AC on our cars, simply relocating the alternator to the drivers side of the engine solves this problem entirely, allowing you to run a single belt. (this approach requires fabricating a bracket, one that allows adjustment preferably)
