I have a running 20b in an 87 TII, thanks to The Spyder.

Newly rebodied/repainted (black) and added lambo doors.

It won't be driven much, in the near future, because I broke both my legs two weeks ago.

Wow! That looks like a $60k + car! beautiful. It will be nice when the bugs are worked out of it and you get to spend some time behind the wheel!

I noticed you went with a distributor. Why?

I have one sitting in a box (see thread on 20b distributors), but I think I am still going to use the electronic distributor managed by the Haltech.

The fit and finish on your build is nice. Is it also smog legal?

And since you are in the FD, did you replace the sub frame?

Hoofhearted- Sorry to hear about your leg. I would love to see some pics and hear some of your 20b details... besides most of the 20b forum is about talking about the 20b and not driving it!

Of course driving it is better, but if you can't...

Thanks on the compliments. I've tried to maintain a stock look to the car. I've also chosen to powder coat many engine components with a metallic black for that "evil" look. It's interesting to see ricers pull up to me to check it out. Most want to race. The looks on their faces when I punch it is priceless The torque of a 3 rotor is just too much fun. And this was when the car was at about 400 WHP

Why the distributor? Becasue that's what Pettit oringially installed. This question made me curious so I called Gotham to discuss. George at Gotham indicates an electronic distributor is a better solution - it's more accurate - but only for high RPM cars (above 10,000) and for cars looking to make big horsepower (above 1,000). He said anything under these levels not much is gained. As I'm not going to to exceed the HP or RPM limits, I'm good to go.

Is the car smog legal? No Florida did away with testing several years ago. I guess I could hook everything back up (air pump and cat) if I needed to.

The car uses the Pettit subframe. I wanted to keep power steering and also AC so this was the only way to go as far as I know. Everyone talks about bumpsteer but I've nver noticed any difference. Pettit modifies the spindles to solve this and it's worked for me. Gotham has also logged about 2,000 miles in the car and they've said they have never noticed any bumpsteer issues.

Wind blows right across your state and keeps the air clean. I live in CA, smog restriction heaven! Mariah pushed a 20b through the CA CARB review board and legally registered it. I am not at that point yet and have to be more creative.

My original thought is, no one knows what a 20b is (present company excluded). I figured if I made everything look factory no one would be the wiser for what was under the hood.

Which means AC, PS, Air Pump (if I ever put it in a 1st Gen, a distributor). etc. (I like that you kept all that on your car!)

I agree, I don't see any reason to change or add more money to swap distributors. I had thought about the distributor when I was struggeling with getting this thing running (simpler can be better!). I still may go that direction.

The 20b makes my convert. drive the way I think it should from the factory (converts are weak, heavy, with bad gearing). The 20b smooths both the engine and the weight in the front!

Yes. I also have a launch kit from Pettit. When I last drove the car at 450 WHP, you could break the tires loose on all 4 gears. The 20B is pretty amazing.
