Cool

Okay, no one has posted in the 20b section for a while... I wonder if it is because none of our 20b's are actually running.

Who has a running 20b? Give us some positives!

And by running, I don't mean like this!

Well, I have a running 20B, sort of Check out the "other" forum for my "Pettit Racing 20B Conversion" thread. Three years of posts about the conversion. Without writing a novel, the car went from Pettit Racing to Wolf EMS for a single turbo conversion and now to Gotham Racing where all the issues caused by the previous work are being fixed.

I've dynoed in at 540 WHP at 14.5 PSI but I've now run into other issues which must be corrected. I'll post more in the near future but the car should be pretty wicked (read ceramic seals, studded, and specialty ports) once complete.

Wow! How much ($) are you into that monster? Sounds like it will be awsome. I am planning on running the stock twin turbo with the secondary gate removed (the twin will function as a single turbo).

Well north of $60K, but it's that much only because I didn't know much about the 20B conversion and had to learn along the way. Got screwed also and the work performed was not up to par. I try to smile and keep pressing ahead, treating this as a learning experience.

My new solution - Custom ported engine, new thick center plate, new 13B FD rotor housings, center oil modification, new OEM eccentric shaft, NRS 1 piece ceramic seals, Xtreme Rotaries stud kit, dynamically balanced center rotating assembly, Haltech e11 v2, Aquamist methanol injection, MDS coils and ignition AMPs, and a Jacobs Accuvolt system to regulate everything, plus a T51R ASE turbo.

My limiting factor now will be how much HP the stock tranny can take

Damm, I am impressed. I am lucky my wife lets me keep the cars I do have (R1 FD, GSLSE, S5 Vert, S5 NA, and the drivers Audi A4 and Jeep Liberty... oh yeah and an e30 325i) ... not to mention the money I put into them (which respectively is very little for a hobbiest). I have owned in upward of 40+ rx7's over the years. It use to help me and my friend through college. At this time in life, the habit of picking them up hasn't left, but the need to get rid of them has (we are not worried about where we will get our next meal!).

My 20b project has gone back and forth. My friend and I were able to get it running using the stock ECU (we tricked it to think all the sensors and solinoids were there), but we ran into, what later turned out to be a short in the wiring harness. We switch to a Haltech (with the same bad harness... before we new it was bad). I have just recently purchased a Haltech harness and one of these days I can't wait to lay it out and connect it.

My wife doesn't think this thing will ever run... I beg to differ! (said in defiance!)... but so far she is right.

Sounds a lot like my project You'll get it running though and it will be very unique, not to mention scary fast. The Haltech is the way to go. The stock ECU? That's crazy, have never heard of anyone doing that before.

Anyway, I'll update soon on the end results of the car. Am shooting for 650 WHP which should be no problem with my setup. Above this, the turbo might limit me and then it's the tranny. Would like to drive it awhile before I need to do something else.

Driving it? What a concept!

Do you have any pictures of your project?
