Ok for some time now I have threw around the idea of maybe getting my hands on a JC Cosmo. I have heard that there is a couple here in the states. I was wandering how they went about getting them registered. I have seen a few that were to be imported into Canada through a import/ export company, is this the way to get it over? If anyone knows how these cars were made legal or actually owns one I would like to get some info thanks.

Ive often contemplated that idea myself. But, I dont believe you can register these cars here(at least in my state). Ive even tried inquiring about loopholes like obtaining "Repair" or "Farm" plates where only the Plate is registered and insured.

That's an idea I never thought about with the tags. I have a few friends that are dealers or drive car haulers, they have Dealer tags which could work to be able to drive the car. I don't know I would still like to get one & have it registedred the right way. Somehow these guys have found the way & hopefully I might be able to in the future.

not sure what virginia's registration laws are like but indiana's if you buy the car out of state all they do is do a visual confirmation that the VIN on the car matches the one on the title then you're good to go. Never tried a JDM car though so I'm not sure how that'd work out.....

you could always get a rolling chassis then order the drivetrain from japan. register it as a kit car and it doesn't need a vin

GT-R guys have been doing that for quite awhile.....
