I got it to run for about 30 seconds here. I basically had to constantly jiggle the throttle. I think it was running off the accelerator pump or something. Is that a sign of a vacuum leak? Carb too small?

This last one was after I moved the tape recorder into the garage and closed the garage door. You can barely hear the starter. lol that's how loud the engine is!

It seems to be a stong engine. I'm happy! I've just gotta figure out a better intake system, as you can hear.

sounds good once it revs! cranking timing should be 5btdc, it will kick back if its higher than that, if its lower it might crank a little faster.

it sounds rich to me on the low end, but its hard to tell from just noise

Thanks. Yeah, all three header pipes were black from carbon.

Mike, should I retard the timing slightly? I'm sure the gas pooling in the UIM is probably causing lots of gas to spill down the runners every now and then. It blew slightly black smoke a couple times.

Stock FC and 20B leading marks are at 5ºATDC right? Ok, I set the static timing to 0 as close as I could. I simply counted 5 degrees of advance from the stock mark to arrive at 0º, then I transfered it onto the FC pulley while taking a black Sharpie to the stock FC marks .

So you're saying I should advance it 5º? I'll throw in my REPU's starter to hopefully take care of any slow cranking from now on (it cranked my old 3B 13B really fast). Come to think of it, the dizzy is rotated quite a bit counter clockwise.

Now I've gotta think about intakes.

I hope so!

I got to check out an Atkins manifold today on an FC that's getting a Whipple SC. It also had the RB clear perspex 20B dizzy kit. I took a bunch of measurements of the manifold and talked to the owner. He thinks my engine will actually be able to idle with the Edelbrock and an aluminum plate. That's good enough for me!

Now I've gotta save up some money to get one.
