hello every one

I am new to this site so ill say ahead of time im sorry for any mistakes i may make . The reason im posting this is because im wanting to know if anyone knows how much power a 85 gsl-se trans and rearend can withstand ?

Im almost finishd with my 87 turbo 2 motor and will hopefully have it up and going by summer to play with some v8's . Thankyou

the drivetrain will hold up to 300 h/p easily, with no speedshifting

Does it matter? Just run it 'til it breaks. You probably have your mind set on getting a T2 tranny and maybe some sort of Ford rearend anyway, right? Why not just use what you've got until you break it? You're going to spend the money eventually, right? Why make the project more expensive than it needs to be just to simply get it running?

So what do you guys think, did I give good advice?

Jeff is right. Get it to run and mostly sorted out and run if it breaks, then spend the money where your having problems! Good Luck

Good point but i would hate to run the car knowing its going to break when i could take the drivetrain out and give it to 1 of my friends who doesnt have a limited slip dif . I would rather spend the extra time doing it right , and to answer your question i wasnt planing on changing any of the drivetrain (i was going for a sleeper) but these young boys in there momma and daddys cobras and vets at the local crusing strip will still be embarrased

Honestly I think the rear end will hold but I doubt the tranny will.The SE rear is supposedly super strong for a Factory built LSD.Thats why my T2 beast has a T2 tranny and SE rear.I shouldn't have any problems with my T04E breaking it.Although I could be wrong......

The SE rear is not as strong as some may think. I ripped mine into chunkie pieces at the strip. Put 3 holes through the housing the size of quarters. Was running all stock 13B no mods. Put an 84 GSL rearend in it and have had no problems at all out of it. I would have to agree with jeff though. Run it till it breaks and then put something else in it. I only paid $100 for the GSL rearend at the junk yard.
