I've noticed racing beat does not make and IDA maifold for the 6 port 13B. Why is that? Wouldn't this be a far superior carb then the Holley 4 bbl? My holley set up cuts out on any fun corners, an IDA would not.

Any comments?

Things can be done to stop this from hapening. You dont need to stay with the basic 40 year old design. Look through any hot rod catalog and you will find so many ways to fix that problem.

What do you suggest? I have the center pivot bowls and the bowl snorkel in the secondary bowl but my primary side uses Weber Power plates. So I can not use a snorkel on that side. On any hard right turns and really hard left turns it just cuts out. I was told no matter what i do it's becasue the carb is rotated 90 degrees and that's just no the way the Holly was intended to work.

Man, if i can fix this for a 100 bucks or so that beats 900 for ther intake and IDA carb but.....

I'm still curious why no one runs an IDA on a 6-port in the first place. I was under the impression the IDA was the best carb set up for a rotary.

Thanks,

Craig

Just because Racing Beat doesnt make an IDA manifold for the 6 port(I thought they did though?) doesnt mean its a bad idea. Whats the point in making a product if you cant sell enough to justify the costs.

Some may disagree with me, but I see carbs as dinosaurs. Outdated, to say the least. They make good power, but an EFI system can make as much peak power(or more), and have a more usable torque curve, and much better response throughout the throttle range. Carbs work, EFI works better, to put it simply.

Your holley problem could likely only be fixed by rotating it to the orientation it was designed for, but that wont work with the arrangement of the primary and secondary ports on your manifold. You could make a spacer to allow you to rotate the carb 90 degrees, but that will probably end up making more work than its worth.

You didnt mention if you had jet extentions. But these move the jets into the middle of the bowl so their always submerged in fuel.
