Thumbs up

Ok, the other day i got a bit excited and went for a little drift, whilest drifting my car stalled, since then every time i start it up the oil, water, and battery lights come on, and the tach reports 8000rpm.. Give it a rev and it stops, and goes back to normal, aswell as that it will sometimes do it when left at idle. the car still runs fine, idles fine, and sounds fine. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Is your battery bolted down properly? My brother borrowed

my -7 for a while and during the time he had it the clutch

master went out. He's not mechanically inclined so he paid

a shop to fix it. after they "fixed it", he started to complain

about electrical ghosts. Wierd **** like the tach going haywire

and the warning lights turning on for no reason. It turns out

that the "mechanic" had left the old clutch slave cylinder on

top of the battery. It intermittantly shorted the + post to the

radiator core support causing all the ghosts. After I replaced

the melted (yes MELTED) terminal and threw away the old

slave cyl., my ghosts were exorcised and sent to the next

victim of that "mechanic".

The battery is secure, I took it out yesturday and as I pulled up at a set of lights I noticed a faint scraping/scratching noise, whether this has anything to do with it I do not know, but as soon as I had noticed the noise the tach and lights fucked up again. Light went green, I took off and it went back to normal. It only makes the noise at idle, I held it above idle at a stop and the noise was non-exsistant and the dash as fine. any more ideas? haha.. thanks

I have been looking for something of the like, I have also been looking around for wiring, but due to the s4 13b swap there is connecters everywhere that are connected to nothing, which makes it hard. What could be loose to cause such a problem?

Are you sure it wasnt very fast clicking, like a solenoid switch under the dash? This would explain alot.

It's not a fast clicking. And yeah, it is super strange the way the tach shoots to 8000rpm.. I'm sure the alternator is fine, as there doesn't seem to be any obvious problems when I am looking at it whilest it is running, i do know a few strange things have happened since I have owned the car, for example, the choke used to warm the car up in a very smooth fashion, now it is almost as if the choke is dead.. the car.. literally chokes, and will sometimes go down to 1100 instead of starting at 1500 and going to 2000rpm and shutting off when I first purchased the car.. thats something else though.. the sound that is coming almost sounds like it is coming from the gear box or even the passenger side of the car, which is the left (aus), it's faint so it is hard to tell. anyway.. thanks
