For the last couple days bigturbo74 and I have been helping one of our friends put some new rims/tires and struts on his car. We finally finished it today and now the car ascts like its in nuetral all the time. The clutch mechanics work. The car when revved up will not not shift and will grind with the clutch out and the speedo reads as if the car is moving. Therefore i have concluded it is not a clutch problem. We didn't touch anything but the struts/brakes/rims. What the hell???? Its a 91 celica....

That ran through my mind but, we never took the hubs off.... And the hubs have that center nut on them to get off...Either way I know the shafts are in there...It would be banging around like crazy

I thought you had to take the shafts out for stuts. Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

you drop the suspension below a certain point,...and the CV joint pops out of the transaxle........not on the hub

but wouldn't you seriously hear the **** spinning? we are thinking it is the tranny cuz when the car is running and in gear with the clutch engaged the car still runs. Also when it is parked on an incline and in gear without ebrake it still rolls down the hill.....therefore it isn't the cv joints

it is just really weird because there wasn't any evidence of anything breaking while it was up on stands or previously while driving it....

That means the diff is spinning.

Check the axles, Grasshopper. There you will find the answer to your problems.
