Temporary idle. Idles for 40-60 seconds and dies.

It sound like you are talking about the coasting valve, it supplies fresh air to the rear rotor to prevent backfiring. I had a total loss of power when I bought my 85 that turned out to be a coasting valve, it would barely idle as well.
