i have a 1984 mazda rx7 gsl-se 13b. it will take 2-3 times to start then idles fine. when you give it gas it will die. any help would be much appreciated.

 

check fuel pressure, check voltage at the pump. 2-3 times and then it starts? the pump could be bad/dirty terminals or fuel filter clogged. after the 2nd time or 3rd time it has built up enough pressure to start and idle but nothing more. might also try jumping the check connector by the passenger side strut tower that will turn the fuel pump on then see if it starts.

 

I had a 13B that would idle great, But then when you tried to give it a good amout of gas it would just die.. The problem turned out to be a vacuum leak that only happend when the gas pedle was pressed.
