When the car is idling, the RPM slowly starts to surge between 600 and 900 RPM. The longer it idles, the more pronounced the surging gets. I'm assuming it's an emisions valve or sensor that's causing it, but I'm hoping someone out there has run into this before and knows which one.

Welcome. Why is it at 600 that thing should be at 800 the lowest.Sounds like it might be emissions but you might want to check the plugs.Surging can be caused by fouled plugs too.You have a RHD first gen in BC???How did you get it in to canada.I know they have strict laws on them.I was looking at a JDM fb for awhile but a 7g's and not using it for about a year while ICBC looks at it is not worth the hassel.

welcome! check the throttle position sensor, when they are bad/out of adjustment it will do that. the idle speed should be i think 800rpms?

Getting it in was easy, registering it may be another thing all together. I was living in Australia for 4 years, so bring it in without any duty was easy. Also, the car is over 15 years old so Transport Canada doesn't give a rats about it. You only have to pass a safety inspection to get it registered in BC, and AirCare if it's the Lower Mainland.

I don't have to worry about anyof it because mine is a race car and therefor will never be road registered. I have put a couple of one day permits n it to drive it to Mission and back, but that's been about it. Once I have a trailer that won't happen anymore either.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check all the ideas out this weekend.

I set my TPS to read 1000 ohms with the car off and just connecting into the tps connector measuring resistance across the two wires.

the t2's are a lot pickier about this than gsl-se's are but you want to set the tps when the car is hot
