I have a 2nd gen with single port FI. When I bought it, the idle was way low. I adjusted the idle speed up to around 600rpm, now it surges.

Any ideas?

It tends to 'flood' easily, too. With input from the forum, I suspect leaky injectors. When I bought it, the guy gave the following starting instructions:

Try with no foot on the gas 3 times.

If it doesn;t start, then put pedal to floor and then start.

So far, it's been working, though 80% of the time it starts first time without having to give it any pedal.

The turn over doesn;t sound real strong, but the battery is new.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The surging may have to do with the TPS. Hard starting could be either leaky injectors or low compression. If the car gets hard to start you could try pulling the EGI INJ fuse under the hood, cranking the motor, and then putting the fuse back in and trying to start the car.

Fuel doesn't get injected, and any extra fuel in the motor should exit through the exhaust ports when you crank it. That's a quick way to unflood a motor if it's not too bad.
