What is the max rpm that a stock 12A can go too?? Ive had mine a little over that 8000. i here that theres is some fuel starvation i havnt had any but is there a way to boos pressur with stock fuel pump?? And just recently there has been a very wierd vibration of what seems like the motor at 5000 and to about 7000 rpm. I can fell it thorough out the car. And when this happends there is a wired sound that of when u run a motor at high rpms with no load on it but im in gear and accelerating?? Not sure what i could be any help will be appreciated. thanks

P.S I do have a msd 6AL but with stock coils but with new wires and plugs

A Stock 12A..??? I would not take it past the redline... a all stock 12A makes its peak power at 6000 RPMs so anything after 7000 RPMs your just losing power and you might as well shift into the next gear.

you can boost the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure regulator. schucks has a adjustable fuel pressure regulator for like $25. I have had good results running around 4.5 PSI with the stock carb.

I have had a wierd vibration before... It started right after I started reving it past redline.. shortly after the vibration started my 12a blew up.. I'm pretty sure it had either a blown apex or side seal..

k ill try to pick one up next week or something. Ive had my motor over 8000 lol oops. I dont think the motor is about to blow it seems to be more from the tranny then the motor. Ill check out under neath it some time when im able to get it up in the air. The motor still pulls hard still able to churp the rear tires at about 6000 going from first to second lol. its a great car but it just needs a lot of work. I plan on doin a full restore with a street port 12A possible still na but i wont to get a lot of power out of it so i might go fuel injection with a mega squirt but that wont be for a while. At least when i get out of petaluma and go to my permanit duty station lol. Sweet the dalles im from Florence west or eugene if u didnt know lol. But now im in caly for training lol.

vibration might be a water pump (try to wiggle it back and forth, the bearings die) or the transmission mount collapsed

engine can take revs to 8k here and there, but peak power is under 7k, so theres not much point.

with a stock carb you want like 2psi, preferably with a larger fuel pump

ill be upgrading it slowlly the first think to majorly get done is the exoust. Its got a slick leak im thinking its at the manifold. But im hoping to get a catless exoust free flowing with a header and using 2.5 inch tubing. Then im gonna llokin into simple intake mods. I think i might be able to get ahold of a 12a cheaply so i might rebuild that with a street prot in it.

it wears out a little faster.... thats one nice thing about the rotary vs say a honda. if you rev yours past 8500 once or twice, it just wears more quickly, do that with the honda and you're picking parts up off the ground.

once you get the exhaust sorted out, peak power will prolly go from stock 6000rpm to more like 6800rpm.

if the engine had miles on it, keep it under 8000.
