hi guys. I am now done with the DLIDFIS and core motor and am waiting to send the new and old motors to a tranny shop to swap the flywheels. After that i am going to put it all back together. cheers. As always tell me what you think.[attachment=38270:attachment][attachment=38271:attachment][attachment=38272:attachment]

zeroecco 06-04-2006 02:58 PM

FINALLY!!! SHE STARTED!!! And I cannot believe the difference in the proformance. Since i am always at about 3k or above i haven't really felt any low end yet power change. I cannot get the carb to idle below 1200 rpm any ideas? I will have some movies soon...[attachment=38484:attachment][attachment=38485:attachment][attachment=38486:attachment][attachment=38487:attachment]

Right on man.

zeroecco 07-28-2006 01:14 AM

Alright it has been a while since i have posted so i have to catch everyone up. The motor from the donor car threw an apex about a month and a half ago.... So I had decided to sell the car. Rob down at pineapple came by because he was interested in buying the car. After I explained everything that had been done to the car Rob toldme that he thought it best for me NOT to sell the car to him!!! I was going to sell everything to him for 700.00!!! So i asked why. Well he felt that with all the work i had done and the situation that he couldn't buy it from me and feel right about it. So Rob is giving me a hand and biulding a new motor for me at a great price. Oh and i am painting the engine bay now since the car has been sitting. The majority will be black but the fenders and bolted on parts outside of the unibody will be white. I will post when i resize the pics.

z-beater 07-28-2006 01:19 PM

I thought you had died...

zeroecco 07-29-2006 12:10 AM

not dead, just severly depressed there for a while.

z-beater 07-31-2006 12:24 AM

Don't let things get you down. Looks like they are picking up for you https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Take life one step at a time...

Racer X 07-31-2006 05:16 PM

Take it one step or one motor at a time.Thats my moto :( I've killed a motor and drove a half dead motor before.Never blew a piston motor tho....

zeroecco 07-31-2006 06:09 PM

this is where the bay is at now. After i get back from japan i will get back to work on it.

zeroecco 08-07-2006 05:36 AM

just posten some pics from japan... enjoy!

I can only WISH that I had your budget! I also want to know what kind of rims you have there, and where you got them. I have a '79 I want to find rims for, and every wheel shop I've been to said: NOT A CHANCE! And that donor car? Looks like a series 1 to me. Nice find! Keep up the good work!

the rims were on the car when i got it but i do know they were keystone back when they were made in 83. as for my budget, well, lets just say that i saved for a LONG time for japan and i had to take a small loan out for that NEW motor. TRUST ME, A USED MOTOR IN THE ROTARY WORLD IS A BAD IDEA NO MATTER WHAT!!!! EVEN A NEW REBIULD COULD BE A LEMON, YA NEVER KNOW!! And a 12a is nearly impossible to find as it is. Yea ya won't find rims for that car, trust me i have had mine for 3.5 years and i still haven't found anything i can use. not even in japan. But you could take your rear axels and hub assemblies to a machine shop and they can redrill a new bolt pattern for you. something like a 4x114.6 (or 114.5 i am not sure)

well, I do know you can have certain manufactures custom make rims for the car, but I figured I could find a way around that. Because the bolt pattern is a small problem compared with the REAL killer...the OFFSET! I guess I can have my rims on special ordered... American Racing can make a set of Silverstone vintage style wheels that look like Panasport wheels and are 14" in diameter, but they're a bit pricey...$191.00 a rim!... Looks like I'ma save up for a while, because first thing's first... RB exhaust...But still, nice car. The Series 1 rocks!

zeroecco 09-04-2006 12:30 PM

here is the new motor from pineapple racing and she runs great!! The only problem is that for the eight months that i hadn't had a car the dot3 fluid in the brake master went bad from sitting and ruined my brand new brake master. so i have no brakes until next week and i have a date with a redhead next saturday!! lol...

zeroecco 09-10-2006 10:16 PM

alright everyone I am about done!! I have switched back to DLDFIS and made custom spark plug wires for it. Also put a big old BMW fan as a push type for the radiator. Side note, I sliced my fingr pretty bad when the fan kicked on while i was installing it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif thats why we all disconnect the neg. battery terminal. anyway enjoy the pics and of course leave feedback...

I have to defend my decision to keep the nikki. I wil have it redone to 400 cfm. Also the nikki has a progressive four barrel so it is better then the single stage weber 48 for the street and gas milage, and it has a choke. So thats what i have to say about that.

f1ernie 09-14-2006 09:34 PM

Where did you get that belt drive?

I got it ast tweakit.net. Be careful though I had to take it off because the water pump would still slip at 7k.... maybe it was user error but i really don't think so...

zeroecco 09-26-2006 02:06 PM

it is really interesting. With the car running so well i have taken it out for a quick drive on the back roads a couple of times and i have noticed something odd. The brake fade on the car is severe. I mean REALLY bad. Not only is the braking not nearly enough when completely cool, but the brakes fade quickly after about 10 min of https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif driving. It wasn't like that with the old motor in it. I didn't think the mods i did would cause such a problem. Any opinions or suggestions? I mean it got so bad that the brakes were SMOKING when i brought the car to a stop sign. Thanks

quick update everyone. The car is running great. Everything seems to be ok but there are a couple of things that I will bedoing as soon as school is out next june( yes i know it is a long time) I will most likely be buying a bunch of cf parts for the car as well as changing the carb over to the ida 48 w/ 36mm ventries. The nikki that i got on there is showing its 28 years of age. also I need anyone who has bought anything from fibremaz to give a review for me. And what is the vent for right at the windshield wipers? never could figure that out. The dldfis seems to be working but I cannot for the life of me get to time this car right!! Its like 15-20 advanced the entire time!! I thought maybe because i could get the idle down to 750 from 1500 rpm would be the reason but i am not so sure anymore...

zeroecco 10-06-2006 10:35 PM

comw on guys, ya'll have given me great advice in the past. Please i need the help

diabolical1 10-06-2006 11:23 PM

probably a dumb question, but have you tried resetting the distributor?

zeroecco 10-07-2006 10:28 AM

haven't resetted the distributor before how do I do that? Oh the date went really good. We ended up going out again the next week. And the next week as well. So ya we are kind of seeing each other. so yea... lol

alright heres another update! As you all remember i couldn't get the car to idle below 1500 rpm with the 79 carb on there. So last sunday i swapped in a 83 carb i had on hand. That acctually helped with the idle but i was having troubles with the timing, which ment i couldn't tune the carb so i played with the dizzy until i thought "why not just run locked timing? so i removed the vaccum advance from the carb and drove it. Not really any batter so i put it back on (vaccum advance) and guess what happened? The friggin thing somehow went back to perfectly timed. How the hell did that happen? oh well anyway it was timed then. Great! Now i can tune the carb. Got the carb running considerably better. Now the car idles at 700 rpm doesn't die on me, and reves up pretty nicely, only a little hick-up around 5500 rpm when the secondaries go full out. So next on my list is suspension. Thinking about trying to find 84-85 perches with spindles, and mosier rear axles, so i can do the big brake upgrade as well as put motegi tracklite wheels on her. Of course i am going to put new springs and shocks on her as well. However i do not think i want a camber kit. The physics of the suspension would require recalibration, And well, I am not a physics major....

dude.... i give u alot of props for not giving up and continuing, well ive got a little project of mine, im taking a suzuki samurai and putting a 13 B rotary twin turbo, but im suping up the engine so i can get atleast around 500 hp......

zeroecco 10-14-2006 06:01 PM

got my first kill today against a supped 1996 honda. HAHAHA, the guy thought he had more under the hood then I did. Now i have seen the car before. It has a header, aftermarket ecu, cam gears, lowered, v-tec. I STILL STOMPED ALL OVER HIM. he had openned her up at two areas. You could tell by the puff of extra gas from the exhaust. I was doing 4k in second on the first round and i put my foot into it and took it up to 6k eating up the distance. so he gave up. probably thought that the down hill was what was making me faster. so he gets to a strait away and opens it up again. I shift to third and open her up all the way. I EASILY OUT PROFORMED THE HONDA. I mean i was in fourth before he was in third HAHAHAHAH. I passed him and took a 30 mph corner at 60 mph and left him in tread marks.LOL it was the most fun i have had in a long time.......remember boys and girls i still have the stock suspension and two bad front shocks.... not to mention the 28 year old springs.

zeroecco 10-20-2006 02:14 AM

I talked with my engine biulder today about a different direction i wanted to go with the car. we did the basic math (if i did all the work except the motor) i could swap in a 4 rotor for like 12k, only two more then what most spend for a 13bt swap. And guess what? it would be at like 425 hp with 300lb torque!! N/A even...

zeroecco 11-20-2006 11:35 PM

anyway it was a side note on the four rotor. But heres a new update for you all. The car is running fine, in first gear while rolling if i floor it she spins the tires. does it in second gear as well. I am running with p205 in the rear and p185 in the front. any ideas?

z-beater 11-23-2006 11:48 AM

My guess is that a 4 rotor would be more than 12k. I am pretty sure that the basic kit from kiwi-re is around 9k. That being said there is an awesome thread in the building section here about making one in a cheaper fashion. And even mounting it into a 1st gen...

Hey thanks for the tread!! yea it looks like a great idea but right now i am happy with my baby ported 12a. Although i AM looking at putting a ida style throttle body on the car and running either a microtech or wolf ecu. problem is that the throttle body is like 330.00 and the ecu is like 1000.00 without tps, ox sensor, air temp and density sensor(s). Not to mention the 4x550cc injectors to feed the beast. Oh yea is there a crank position sensor that will fit a 12a?

zeroecco 12-05-2006 07:02 PM

its been a while since i have made a real update for you all. I have desided the route i want to take to finish the project (for now. the rest will be next year after all this is done. Big brake kit and wheels and shocks and springs are next year). I am going to remove the org. carb and go with the 48 mm weber w/ 36 mm ventries. polished breather tank for the gas and oil. I am going to wrap the header. The mount for for the radiator is going to be redone in cf. most of the stainless is going to be changed to silicone hose (black). I am redoing the dldfis to be nicer to look at. going to use 3 individual white coil mounts with black painted coils. a 2nd gen alt is going in w/ a side mount kit from pineapple (i think it will look better) and it will keep the belt from jumping. going to do a custom oil injection in the manifold (i think that a draw based system with a restricter at the manifold will work) and a sparco seat for the passenger. finally a battery relocation kit in the empty space behind the seat.

z-beater 12-07-2006 12:21 AM

I don't know... and for the love of god post some pics!!!
