that is way too much money did you get a wiring kit from pepboys or wall mart if you are rewiring all of you speakers to a amp then you only need two wires from the stock harness....12volts with key on and 12volts con.(batt)

if you run your own speakers wires and amps, then its just powers and ground

when i had mine done, i took it to a shop and they had to trace everything down, and run new speaker wires because of the oem amps in the system... the $20 harness from best buy/autozone/etc doesn't work... when i put in the new cd player, i snagged a Honda Civic harness from a junk yard, and pieced it into the wires i had... now if i want a new cd player, i just have to pick up a $10 harness from literally just about anywhere...

I know the original post is old, but I thought I'd add that not all the black wires in the harness are grounds. Get your paws on a factory wiring diagram before you do anything. There is a black wire that dims the factory stereo when the dash lights are on. If you connect this wire to ground you will blow your dash fuse, or possibly (like me) blow your dash lights.

i found that there is a connecter for the fornt speakers on the first gens that u can dissconnect and use spads to tap into the front speakers. im not sure about the rear i just cut the factory wires and ran new wires for the rears. I still got the stock amps wich i hope to be getting out soon becouse i dont need them.

well I did put a new clarion deck in and all my wireing is stock (no cutting) , the rear speaker connector in under the back bin on the left side, its the blue 4 pin one, and the front is connected to the gray midi type cable. its really not that hard, its just not many ppl that the time to do it. I'll try to find pics of how I did it
