I've been down in the orlando/tampa area and I noticed that every and I mean every car that had a modified 12a or 13b didn't have an oilcooler. Me personally, I'm gonna run one regardless but I know several of them thats been running fine for about 4 years now with no problems. Everyone I talked to down there say that they don't run an oilcooler because the engine runs cool enough to where they don't need one.
Oh by the way none of them ran a thermostat either. I think that has alot to do with the motors running really cool.
Also, you said you didn't know where the thermostat was. If you follow the top radiator hose to the engine, the thermostat is right there where the hose meets the engine. you have to undo the bolts there to get the thermostat out but it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to pull it out.
I don't know if anyone else knows this but if you want a cheap dual pulley for you alternator, go find a 1984 dodge caravan with the 2.2 liter 4banger engine and get the pulley off of that. It fits "perfectly" and you don't have to go spend a bunch of money getting one off of the internet
