you guys are inspiration, my first proper car is also an fb rx7. im thinking of modding it up later on in the year. any suggestions or advice for some good starting points? btw, the car looks very cool. loving the paint colour. the tan leather looks pretty damn nice too but id personally prefer black leather for that old school feel

Would be nice to see some competition from the FB side. What all do you have done to your car? I just got some 15x7 explorer rims for the mean time till I get the custom rims. I painted them in a graphite color. I've attached some before and after pictures.

Cool selection of wheels noone would expect that, and it doesnt break the bank! That picture I found off google...My 2nd gen is currently going through a 1JZ swap hopefully it would have been done this summer but lack of funds and not working 5 days a week at my job is hindering it bigtime.

I'll have pics of it up today

1jz engine ... somebody couldn't handle all the rpms of a rotary :P Still would be nice to see it. I'm cutting myself short on time on ordering those rims. I really need to hussle and install those big brakes on my car so I can be 100% sure on the measurement and not waste over 2300$ for just the rims.

I started coming to the conclusion I needed a new drivetrain, so I opted for the toyota's almost indestructable one. It can still do 7200RPM, which is fine, and is still shortshifting for this motor but for sure it isnt no S5's 9k RPM redline but...if your at 9k and your getting passed by a honda civic it becomes less of something special and more of a heartache...

And it wont sound like a V8 at all, its still a relatively small displacement motor. It's just the size of a house is all..

well finally got the tires out for a weight comparison. My 14x6 ASA rims with 185/60 R14 goodyear nordics wieght in at 33Lb each. The 15x7 Explorer rims with 195/50 R15 Toyo FZ4 weight in at 35lb. Like I said didn't expect much difference.

Just looked up some rubber weight, 185/60/14 rubber is about 17.4lb, 195/50/15 rubber is about 19.2lb

So really the ASA wheels weight in at about 15.6 lb, and the explorer 15.8lb. For an added 1" width to the rim I think thats pretty good.

You get better tire on 195/50/15's for sure. And yeah i keep ******* forgetting to take pix lol.

ok so it was nice out and ive got some time to kill so i stuck a tape measure in mr peepers

if you stick the tape measure on top of the tire so it hits the strut, actually the coil over adjusting collar, the distance to the inner lip of the fender is 9.5" L and closer to 10" on the right.

my 225/45/15 RA1 dismounted is 8.5" wide shoulder to shoulder.

ive got coil overs, and the wheel, has plenty of room but the coil over adjusting collar is the widest part and its about at the upper sidewall of the tire

on my car the current 15x7's are pretty flush with the fenders, going bigger i'd need to mostly go in

Cool thanks for info. would you be able to maybe weight your wheels just for comparison's sake?
