I am hearing a knocking that increases w/speed, it sounds like the universal joint at the transmission, but my mechanic checked it & said the joints are ok.I am confused. Any suggestions? ? ?

make sure your brake pads are locked in good. mine were making a sound and the faster you went, the faster it made this knocking sound. found out that one of the clips was missing.

I found the problem( good thing too) I was getting a cd player installed on Sat.morning & the installer drove my car into the shop.I heard the noise coming from the front right wheel & not the tranny as prev. posted. When they had finished I got out my wrench & checked the lugs on the tire & 2 were loose,1 was very loose & the lock was tight.I tightened them, checked all the rest...presto...no noise. It could have been BIG trouble 'cause I was on the highway for the next hour.the ROTARY GODS were watchin' over me...

That's a good point to make, every body should go out and re-torque their

lug nuts!

I have studs on mine, and last time I had it at a shop they left 1 wheel loose.

I lost 1 of the stud/nut combo's and was about to loose another when I checked

them.

The recommended torque for the bolts is 65-80ftlb (9-11m/kg)

ref. Haynes pg. 217
