Fuel Delivery Question?
#1
I own an 82 base model stock 12A block, not too long ago I bought a 465cfm holley and intake from Racing Beat because my stocker was being a pain I put it in and gains where minimal. Then I learned that the stock pump was not flowing enoufgh psi. Racing Beat suggsted the holley elect. red pump they said 6psi would be plenty . So I took a look at the stock unit and the confusing maze of hoses and got a little intimidated. I basically have two main questions uppon wireing this beast do I need some kind of regulator to ensure the pump gets enoufgh constant power. The stock fuel lines are real small and restrictive looking. Do I need to plum some larger lines. Suggestons please.

Okay, let's see what I can do for you. As far as the lines, you don't have to change them, unless you want too. Especially if you're still using the stock engine. If you haven't bought the pump yet, I would suggest the Holley Blue. If pumps more volume, good if you decide to upgrade you engine. Also the blue comes with a regulator. As far as the installation, it's relatively easy. A couple of wires and 2 hoses.

Hey thanks for the input. I all ready bought the holley red bcause I was told that 6psi would work fine and the red makes 7psi. Im kinda broke so I dont see any porting in the future but that could change.

Dont have my Manual at hand(its usually glued to my hand) but I think its 2.5-4 lbs at a little over 40 gph.
I do know for the only slightly modified nikki or the equivalent, You only need 6-8 lbs at around 70 gph. A regulator is always Best.

As far as buying a Blue, kinda the same story. When I got mine, I got it at Advance. It was a next day order. Good luck.
