Whats the best exhaust for a 12A. I was thinking going like 2 1/4 piping with a freeflow cat. But I'm stuck on a muffler I don't know whether to go flowmaster, dynoflow, or just a freeflow muffler. My friend has a 240sx and he just put a freeflow muffler on it, it purrs nicely but as soon as he puts his foot down on the peddle it starts to whine. Bottom line I don't want to whine like a civic, I would prefer a deeper sound.

Are these false hopes or dose anyone know of a muffler that can do the job?

Why don't you just buy a Racing Beat power pulse muffler?I hear they are pretty good.Sorrow's is supposed to sound sweet to.He has a link to his muffler retailer in his sig.Rotaries have a different sound either way you look at it.I haven't heard a shitty sounding rotary yet.

@ lowroller

I personally think you should go no smaller than 2 1/2 in pipes..

This will be good too if you ever want to go with a street port.

You really should go with free flow exhast..I dont know where you live or whos doing your exhast..BUT throw the cats out if you can ..GET a RacingBeat header....and only a RB header for first gens...

Flowmasters on a rotary is the biggest mistake...it sounds like BBs rattling in a tin can...

Heres one problem with universal mufflers on rotarys...they tend to burn out faster than stock Mazda ones..and RacingBeats..

I got a old Racing Beat book somewhere..Maybe I should try to scan ..or copy the pages on exhast..it shows like 10 diff ways you can run the exhast ..and it will tell you for bottom end torque or top end etc..

BTW I recommend to run a pre silencer if your running no cats...and make sure its made with no fiberglass in it..theres alot of brand that makes racing mufflers with no fiberglass in it ..heres the one im using as a presilencer..it cost me $25. my price

twister

BUT some people has pointed me towars the Borla XR1 but the price dont amuse me...@ $160. +

My car sounds deep..but it loud/deep when I get on it...I went to a dyno shop Sat..and they guys liked how deep it sounded...I had the owner of Mazsport here in TampaBay area say it sounded good..

So did the owner and couple of guys at H&F performance in St Pete FL...

If you live in thje Tampa Bay area or driving distance I can help you with your full exhast needs..and can get a RB header here locally for about $200-220.

I got a road race header...I didnt go duels back before the muffler like some people would do..I got it 'y'off at around 15-18 inches....then 2 1/2 in exhast back to the twister...to my Mozart DTM muffler..

I cant get the Mozarts any more...

I get Magna flow now...BUT I dont think they make this style in 2.5 only 2.25

I get these mufflers cheap...I priced them on Jegs for about $175. and garentee to get them for you little over half price..plus you pay shipping...

Pending on shipping ...no more than $110. Im thinking...<,with shipping included...I havent weighted it or price the shipping..im just throwing numbers..

and this is not a PepBoys APC peice of ****...

Go check them out

magana flow

You can contact me by AIM or ICQ its in my profile..

Deffinatly Go with Racing BEat exhaust. Hands down the best you can buy. Anything else and you will be dissapointed. If not now than a few years down the road when all your stuff begins to burn up.

Remember Rotary exhaust gases are extremely hot!! Most aftermarket things arent designed to deal with the beating.

I agree with the others about going with a Racing Beat exhaust. I had a PrimaFlow on mine for years, with no problems. Not very loud, nice deep sound. I'm currently using a 3" MagnaFlow on my Turbo set-up and one thing, LOUD.

I have the RB Street Port on mine, and I like the way it sounds.

Its really expensive for exhaust though. And the new run of RB mufflers are ugly because they stopped using the angled tips.

On my RX-2 I'm going to run the RB header/presilencer, and a 2.5" Dynomax Ultra Flo.

I had a GXL with a header to some 2.5" exhaust to some straight through mufflers, and it sounded like 50 asses.

I have to strongley disagree with the RB mufflers. I think the newer design looks much better!!! The tips are thicker and more rolled, looks like a very well built muffler and tips. I think it sets off the rear end of my FB very nicely!!

But to each his own, no matter how flawed it is.. J/K
