I'm just curious....but if I left my heat sheilds off, and just used thermo-header wrap and wrapped the downpipe and presilencer, would it be too hot to drive? I HATE those heat sheilds, they are a pain to work w/ when doing custom exhaust work, and if the thermo wrap will solve it, I'll invest in some...let me know your thoughts...

The downside to thermowrapping the exhaust is that condensation can build up and cause your pipes to rust. That is what I've seen on headers, so I'm assuming it would hold true, but I may be wrong.

I have heard the same thing about wrapping headers, but I have had my headers wrapped for about 3 years now and haven't seen any problems with rust. I do know that it has dropped engine temps by 20-30 degrees. My car rarely runs over 200 degrees in the dead of GA/AL summer. Usually the only time is in standing traffic and then it's barely over it.
