Hey there gurus!

Newb question here. I have 2 hoses the P.O. capped and was wondering what they were. Pics included. Im guessing the top one in picture one is the engine breather ???? The bottom one I have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, there is a wire coming form my dizzy between the 2 vacuum pots. What does it do? The P.O. didnt have it connected either but it still seemed to have ran. Where does it connect to? And this is a 12A in a bug....thanks for all your help.

1. Yes, that's the crankcase vent line

2. That's a coolant feed to the heater core, so if you pull that off you will lose the coolant, that's why it's "blocked"

Personally I would have tapped the iron and installed a plug with a wrench but that's just me

3. That's a condensor from oldschool ignition setups, you do not need it for the car to run.

Thanks a million!!! I too would have tapped the hole but the previous owner did a "quickie" job of getting this in the car. Im back engineering all of his "rigging" stuff to look good and function. Again, Thank you for the info!! Shawn

Those spark plugs look like Autolites. Scary.

The condensor helps with RFI. Hook it to the B terminals of your ignitors and/or the + terminals of your coils if you have a radio and enjoy listening to it. It may only affect AM. I've never had a problem with it hooked up, and since I've always hooked it up, I'm not sure how bad RFI can get.

Yeah those condensors have a function but I'm not familiar enough with oldschool setups to say exactly..

But they work without it, so..

Yep...autolites...and they are the next things to go. What do you reccomend for plugs? I was reading the FAQs and was getting a few ideas. But, you cant go wrong with asking the veterans what they use....thanks!! Shawn
