i can't seem to find a clear answer on here via a search so i'm just gonna ask...

i have a 1983 rx-7 12a automatic

the exhaust system from the cat back is pretty much shot. i have a brand new walker oe muffler. my plan is to order a cat-replacement pipe from rx7.com and have another pipe fabricated to go between the muffler and the straight pipe. i also plan on getting the acv blockoff plate from mazdatrix.com and just block off the acv where it used to run to the original cat. i am not worried about emissions testing.

what i want to know is there anything wrong with this? i know i might as well remove the rats nest, but is there anything wrong with leaving the emissions in place and just blocking off the acv?

is there anything else i should do?

you can leave the rats nest, it basically isnt doing anything once you remove the acv, but its not bad, its just there.

ive done this or variations of this on every 12a for years, but i live where we have smog tests, so i leave the rats nest in.

I've done the same thing with no problems.
