I'm in the process of taking my 80 engine out (Newly Rebuilt) Hayes Mazda Rotary done it, and installing it in a perfect condition 84 GSL. Only change is Mazdatrix Complete Header and Exaust System.

My Question is: Should I stay with the under radiator oil cooler or change it out to the under the oil filter leaking prone filter thats on the blown 84 engine.

I have both radiator and filter styles.

Any help before I make a Boo Boo.

Thanks

Past 6x RX-7 owner. All 1st Gen's

One of the most popular mods for 83+ 1st Gens is to rip out the oil cooler and install the "old style" under the radiator type cooler. These coolers are far superior to the cost-cutting oil pedestal version that Mazda installed in the later model 1st Gen.

nope, you just take out the oil cooler, and replace it with the 80's oil filter pedestal

Thankyou Everyone. It worked---Ta Da---

Just so ya's know, make sure you replace the Foam on the sides and top of the Oil Cooler or it will rattle like Hell.
