Alright guys,

Thanks for all the help and input on this .

Heres the story:

First I tried to find out if the 6-port motor I had was actually an antique. Its not.

Although there was an earlier version(in the early 70's) the block castings told me that it was produced after 1980.

Before 1980 the rotor housings had "Square" or "Block" marks on the top. In 1980 they started producing the housings with an "H" or "I" mark on the top.

Next I wanted to find out if the motor I had was actually made in Japan. It was.

In 1982 mazda, Japan, was experimenting with turbos, superchargers, and dynamic superchargers (which isnt exactly a supercharger). They produced the 6-port 12a that year and applied it to the RX-7, Luce, and Japans version of the 929, the Cosmo, all produced exclusivly in Japan. Few were ever sent to the U.S. and none to Aus. The same year the first ever turbo rotary, the 12a turbo was produced and in 1983 came the dynamic supercharged 13b.

So, now I know what it is. Like that helps. Anyone have a Japanese RE parts connection. I Have no Intake gaskets or rings to put this thing back together with.

If anyone has or can get anymore information about this motor, I would really like to see it.

And does anyone know of a good site for making my own gaskets?

Thanks

PIC: Note the "H" or "I" cast marks on the housings.

Now go check that engine!

I wouldnt take anything I say to the grave but I must say there is alot more information on rx7's on the net than there used to be.

But the casting thing is right on.
