I have an 85 se, do I have 5 and 6 ports or did that come about on the 2nd gens? the reason i am asking is when i replaced my cats with the rb pipe and muffler, i found that the pipe from the air pump was rusted away and gone from the main cat. There is just a rubber hose hanging from the pump. Is there a check valve that should be there? The car runs fine, and has for the 5k miles since I got it.

Did you post this on rx7club before...I remember answering a similar post.

Anyway..if you have an 85 GSL-SE you should have 5th and 6th ports.

I think you're mistaking the air pump for the intake passage that connects to the ACV. The hose you are referring to supplies fresh air to the cat. As you no longer have no cats you don't really need it so you can leave it there if you like.

It normally connects to the split air pipe off of the cat or presilencer which has 2 connections. The first is a 3/8" or 4mm connection to open your 5th and 6th ports and the 2nd is a bell shaped check valve that connects to the ACV passage on the back of your intake manifold. Check the FSM for pictures.
