I'm big into autocrossing at the moment an I currently have an '85 GSL with a K+N filter and an "unlimited supply" of worn out racing tires that work well for autocross. So anyway, I'm getting my *** kicked in E-Stock and I might have the opportunity to buy an '84 GSL-SE with adjustable Koni's and a spare set of wheels and race tires (this guy used to auto-x with me). He's asking $1600.

I'm thinking that I could sell my GSL for more than that because it is really clean and only 85,000 miles and a near perfect interior.

This one as I remember is a little banged up but still decent. Don't know about the mileage. What I was wanting to do is put on a new front swaybar, header, cat replacement pipe, and maybe springs and an intake.

Would this be a good idea?

Maybe I should rephrase the question... Is it a worthy upgrade to go from a stock GSL (12a) to a GSL-SE (13b)?

the gsl-se efi is excellent for autox, no stumbles or hesitations. plus the gsl-se has more power down low, at the expense of being a little heavier

Go for it, you get a limited slip and better brakes at no extra charge with the SE.
