exhaust question
#1
Hello everyone.
I have a RX-2 with a big streetport 12a and the racing beat road race header. My question is if I should run a twin exhaust and join it just prior to the muffler or should I just join it right after the header and also what size diameter should the exhaust be? Thanks for the help.

I think there was a similar question in the 1st gen section on 12a's .
The answer, as per usual, is it DEPENDS. If your going for straight up power, Join them as late as possible and run them as straight as possible (usually under the rear axle). Biggest exaust piping you'd need to go would probably be 2 1/2, but I've seen 3.... Heck my headers are 2 1/2 inch... As is the tradeoff with more power, You'll lose low end by joining them later. I personally haven't been able to compare the two side by side... Ususally people don't regret making more power, unless the extra noise kills the fun. Headaches from cruising suck all the fun out of it. Just keep it livable.

heres sorta the pro's and cons list
uncollected: sounds crappy, you loose power cause its not collected, but its easy, lots of room for mufflers, and it does have low backpressure, so it does ok
long header: sounds the best, imo, power band is really broad, you know of get the best of both worlds, the baclpressure is low, and its collected, so you get a broadpower band, lots of muffler room
short header: power is more, but its peakier, since the header merges into one pipe, theres less muffler room, so keeping it quiet is not as easy as the other two.
