That's a nice setup. I hope to swap in a 5 speed and do an engine rebuild in mine after my current run of projects are finished.
Very easy to convert to manual. I change the brake booster lines from a first gen rx-7. Slave cylinder, hard line and slave cylinder reservoir from a first gen. The drive shaft is the same. The transmission mount the same. Only thing it moves up a notch. The RX-5 tranny in the pic turned out to have a bad bearing. I ended up using a 79 tranny. You must use the shifter for old school, if not the 79 shift will hit the dash.
Take the auto tranny shift off and you only have to jump one wire for the electronic and car to start. I still have to make a harness for the reverse light switch of the tranny to the plug where the aut neutral switch was at.

I had access to a parts Cosmo from which I aquired the tranny, pedal assembly, master and slave with hard and soft lines. It's good to know the driveshaft and rear tranny mount are reuseable. what about the rubberized part? Is it the same as '74-'85 manual ones?
I should also have an old style shifter around here somewhere. Yeah, I believe the tranny had one when I got it. I also have a '79 shifter which I won't bother with (it's actually a long throw shifter compared to the '76 stocker).
I figured the starter lockout in the gear selector would need to be jumpered or something. I also should still have the reverse harness. I'm just curious about the shifter boot and rubber mat. What did you have to do to seal it and make it look nice?

Rubber parts are the same....
AFAS the rubber, I cut a first gen RX-7 one, I believe out of a 79 RX-7 and trimmed to fit the rubber part. The metal one I am contemplating whether to cut the ring off the automatic or try to get a used one. I can probably make my own but I am trying to keep it somewhat original.....
