I've got an s5 TII. I'm putting 225/50zr/16 Kumho Ecsta Supra's on the rear and 225/50zr/16 Yokohoma AVS ES100's on the front. do you guys think these would be good for normal street driving and maybe some auto-x driving? Should I get something with more grip? Also I was wondering about drag radials. I'm thinking about some Yokohoma A032R's or some BFG drag radials. Which do you think is better? What size should I get? What is the biggest size that will fit on a stock rim and not rub the inside of the wheel well(stock height)? I was thinking that maybe a 245/50 or a 255/50 would fit. If you don't know your tire sizes that well a 245/50 is about a 9 in. wide tire with the side wall being about 4.5 inches and a 255/50 is about a 10 wide tire with the side wall being about 5 inches. Hope that helps. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Why are you going to use two different types of tires?

One is for increased grip in the front for better steering and the other is also for increased gripin the rear, but has a longer tread life so it will last longer. My theory is to go with a softer compound rubber in the front so that the tire won't slide as much through coners and a harder compound in the rear for a longer life since they recieve all the power. I figure that this setup will give me a better feel for the road on a daily basis and when ever I go auto-x.

Remember, when you have different tires(sizes and brands) on the front and rear, you change the braking/steering characteristics of the car. To counteract this, you'll need to get some really adjustable suspension(coilover with + and - dampening), as well as know how to adjust toe, camber and caster to return the "feel" back to the car.

can't go wrong with the Kuhmo 712's for the price... or the new Ecsta MX.

different tires are going to be unpredictable and take getting used to especially in an Autox situation....

I just finished today with the new tires. They are all the same size(225/50zr/16),but different brands. I have the Kumhos in the rear and the Yokohoma AVS ES100 in the front. They discontinued the A520 so I went with the AVS ES100. They seem to work well together. Give me some more time and some suspension upgrade work and I'll let you know how it works out. The reason I was asking about different sizes is because I wanted to use a drag radial for drag racing. Can you guys give me more insight on the drag radial? what's the best one that will fit a stock 16x7.5 rim and not rub the wheel well?

Yeah that's what i'm told. Unfortunately they aren't made to fit our 16in. rim. How about the A032R from Yokohoma? Got any others to suggest?
