tires

BFG drag radials have awesome grip but do not last very long and the soft sidewalls aren't meant road racing. A032R's are OK but A048's or A038's are better. Try to stay away from the SS compound since that is a qualifying tire that has very SHORT life span. I have been dragging on 215/50-15 (FWD) A048 SS and these things are amazing for a hard sidewall circuit tire! Launching at 6500rpm with 12psi of air does me right!! If you want a good Japanese street strip tire then you should look at ADVAN TNR's or NEOVA's. The Kumho's you have should do you right!!
Try Azenis also!!

Rutt I've never heard of the A048 or the A038. Do they sell those in the states? Thanks for the advice. I will look for them.
FCManiac Nitto's are my last chioce because when they wear out they tend to loose their grip to a major extent. At least that's what I've been told by all the V8 guys that I know. Thanks though.
Any other ideas?

Take the time to buy 2 rims for the rear and put your drags on those. That way you don't have to use your drags all the time. not to mention that the racing hear in town is dead for this year anyway. you have all winter to do this and then some. That's why I am calling it a year its to cold for me to grab traction so what's the point. I will stay away from the racing scene for a couple of month's and then come back and destroy all those 12sec V-8. 7Mech you know witch V-8's i am talking about. :bigok:

The front tires have a different job than the rear do. It just depends on what you are looking for. Mismatched tires can make sense.
Rutt, stop teasing everybody over here with all the sweet tire choices available over there. We get the medium compound A032R's. The SS ones have a treadwear of 60, right? The ones we get (I had for a while also) have a rating of 80. Sweet as hell while they lasted.
The Azenis seem to be the hot ticket in the street tire class at autocrosses in the past year. The Azenis have finally made it stateside. Too bad we don't get too many sizes to choose from. If they sold the 225/50R16 I'd go for them.

Can't you just rotate if you use the same size front and rear? While different tires front are rear would work fine, I know I would prefer to run the same model of tire front and rear. Hard tires in the rear will compromise your grip, too. Hard tires suck.
The Falken Azenis Sport tires are very sticky and are dirt cheap. I am not sure if they make 225/50-16, but they might still be your best bet in 205/55-16 if that is the only size available.
