Well, I didn't like the look of my brake calipers being all rusted looking, so I grabbed some high temp/high gloss and some clear coat and went to town. I painted the whole thing on the car, then when the Paint dried, I took a file to the mazda part of the caliper. Then I clear coated the ***** ***** like 20 times. It's held up for over a month now...



So whatcha guys think?

Looks nice, all the expensive cars have nice painted calipers, I was going to do the same thing with the file on the Mazda logo on the caliper, just never got around to that project. 20 coats of clear isnt needed by the way, 3-4 would have been fine, sometimes too much can cause crackling.

When I picked up my FD the previous owner had painted the calipers red and on a Montego Blue it just looks amazing...

And here I was going to ask you what kind of clear DIDNT crack with 20 coats on it, lol. Even those old laquer paint jobs, where they would say "15 coats of hand rubbed laquer".... thats only because they would wet sand and rub most of it off to get the orange peel out of it.

 

I did mine in black also about a year ago and It looks real good. I think I'll do mine in red. I think it would look sick against my Innocent Blue.

 

Damn what is that a 40" rim .. haahahahahahaha

 

i'll be painting my calipers soon...the bro's painting them on the Supra, might as well do both cars.
