I have 555r's and the are sticky as **** on the street, I have never had them on the track to know about that.

I like them , i got them cause tirerack.com was running a special I got all 4 shipped for $260 last year.

You run drag radials on the front of your car? Don't they have a soft (wobbly) sidewall?

So, I take it that it's better to have just rear drags.. so, what's the best alternatives for the front?

the 555r's work BEST when fully warmed up, my friend has them on a couple of his cars and theyre nuts. after his burnout, i can hear pebbles sticking to the damm tires. they hold traction like none other, no matter the amount of power youre putting through them. i would personally go with bf-goodrich g-force series. their drag radials are supposedly better than 555r's, but also a bit more expensive. i think that is partly the reason why nitto suddenly came out with the v.2 to compete with the new line of drag tires offered through bf-goodrich.

as for running them on your front, thats just nuts, seems wrxish to me..... i'll leave it to 4wd, no reason to spend the money when you'll never see the front tires spin, or heat up enough to get mad traction out of them anyways.
