Fc Suspension Upgrades?

HowD, now that the car is in good mechanical running order I now need to concentrate on fixing the suspension, which is pretty much shot. Just to let everyone know I have S4 N/A. And my goal is to upgrade the RX7 enough to keep up with a friends RX8, we are pretty equal drive skill wise.



I already have a 4 pistion caliper upgrade, and 5 lug hubs waiting to go on the car. and I have comp motor mounts.



I am decided on my rims, Enkei RPF01 in 17 inch(from Auto R&D), not sure on width though, I am thinking of 8 or 9 on all corners with either 235 for the 8's or 255's for the 9's. I would like to be able to rotate the tires. And I know that if I get the 9inches with 255's I will have to get wider fenders in the front.



I already plan on getting DTSS eliminators, all new poly suspension bushings, sway bar end bar links, and maybe comp trans and differential mounts, strut braces (proably mazdatrix style), under car suspension braces, like the ones that mazdaspeed and Auto EXE make. Do you guys think the mounts, end links are a little overkill, and suspension braces would be a waste of money?



I have no idea what to do in the lines of struts and springs, I was thinking of getting RB springs with AGX's and call that good, would Ground Control coilovers with the AGX shocks be that much better? And is there anything else that I am missing?

I can't point you in the right direction, but since it seems like you're upgrading everything possible, you might want to add front camber plates to your list.

If your planning to rotate, i have 235's on my stock tii rims and they rub in the front. i dont think 255's r a good idea, personally i like 215's up front gives the car a really smooth ride. 235's r good for rear, 255's would be better. just my 2 cents



I think the mounts and end links are a little overkill, how much power r you maken? My friend has the rb springs he loves them, i was planning on going with eibach springs and kyb AGX struts for my tii. That right there is about 700 bucks and plus bushings, and whatever sway bars you wanna get youre looking at spending a couple of dollars.

I already have 235's on al 4 corners, some how the previous owner found someone to put 235/60R14 on the phone dials.

Anyone else?

I am going to get Tokico HP shocks(about $319). I am thinking really hard about getting the GC coilovers since they are only $400 not much more that RB springs. But would the coilovers be a waste without the camber plates? I don't plan on dropping the car much, maybe .5-1.0 inch. This should leavme enough to get TII sway bars, and all new bushings.



I am still not sure on tires though. Has only one dude gone to 235's or bigger in the front?

You should go with the suspension deal that racing beat has. You get springs and sway bars for only $429. Camber plates are also a good idea if you're going to lower the car, that way you can ensure maximum tire grip on the ground. You might want to try Koni Yellows or Tokiko Illuminas, just for that adjustable edge, but I'm kinda a nut like that...

if you go ground control you won't be sorry



you can swap out for different spring rates, adjust ride height for a lower center of gravity, and corner balance the car.



My n/a has ground control with kyb agx's, racing beat front sway bar, cusco strut bar, and cusco rear strut bar. And the car will about throw you out the side window. The rx8 will never have a chance.



It's also important to consider balace front to rear, not just in weight but in stiffness. You always want the rear end a little softer so it will transfer weight instead of oversteering.
