i have a 88 n/a rx-7 but i just started mine for the first time it took a full 2 sec's it seems to rev from idle to 7000 normal ? also if a 2 rotar was running on one rotar would it shake alot or still idle smooth? mine does idle smooth some ***** i got the car from says it was only running on one rotar so i plugged the spark plug wire into the first rotar it was just hanging rotar and it seems normal but still idles up and down from 16 to about 1900 rpms is this normal for the rx or no? any help would be great
A compression check will let you know where you stand with the engine. The fluctuating idle is a common problem and is generally caused by the throttle position sensor (TPS). Check around the FAQ's in this forum and you will find a lot of useful info.
With all four plug wires properly attached, does the engine pull well to redline? If the car has been driven with one or more of the plugs disconnected, I'd replace them with new plugs.
