Exclamation

I build street rods and hot rods. But I own a Miata, I love my Miata!! I am looking into putting a 302 in it (ala Monster Miata). This would be an fairly easy job for me.. I do this kind of stuff all the time. But, I thought, why not do somthing more unique..how about a rotary engine!!! I hear that the transmissions are nearly the same (5spd) and motor mount s and such would be easy enough...

Has anyone seen this done? ANy suggestions on years for engines? Fuel Injection is a must.

Help me figure this out!!! I will follow thru....

Thanks everyone!!!

I'm sure it has been done before. Have you tried searching the web for one? I'm sure there is one out there.

Have you heard about the new miata? The MPS Roadster? I don't know if is a Japan only deal, but it is sporting 197 hp @ 7000 rpm, and 136 ft. lb. of torque @ 6000 rpm. It must haul some serious ***!

Yep, I was right.

The Roadster MPS is a limited production model (with a rumored production figure 200 cars) for the Japanese market only and won't be available in export.....
Japan gets all the cool stuff! :frown:

Here is a link to the article about it.

Damn, that is a fine looking Miata! I really like the new ones with factory body kits. Stuff a TII motor in there and that would be pretty fun. You could make your Miata a serious sleeper.

Whatever you do Bryan95502, don't make your Miata look like THIS!!!! This is bad, baaaaaaaaad.

Hey all, you're right there Isamu, what the hell is that car all about? You would have to say that is unique in the world!

Hey brian95502 must be a tight squeeze with a 302 in the engine bay. I've seen a Mx5[sorry Miata!] down here sporting a rotor in the bay. If my memory serves me correctly it was a 12A turbo. Most of the modified Miata's here are usually left as pistons and turbos are added on. I've been for a drive in a turboed 1.8 litre and while it was quick, it just ran out of RPM's. I don't know why there aren't more rotary conversions in them with the front engine/rear drive combo. Probably because of the cost of Miata's here still quite high. Even a '88 model sets you back about 10 to 12 grand in Aus dollars. People here have a bit of a problem pulling cars apart at that price!

Those things are all over here (maybe not with blown engines), but they are cheep as hell, like $2000-4000.

Hey Iluvmy88cabrio, that really sucks.$2000 to 4000 for a Miata. I don't I'd find a rolled miata here for that price. Might come on over a convert one or two at that price!
